7 weeks & nothing planned – Day 32: Dunham Massey & Shugborough Estate

Up and out a little later than scheduled (thanks to a little too much Claret), but made it to our first stop, Dunham Massey.  First problem…the house wasn’t actually open! So a quick walk around the gardens and then we headed on South to the Shugborough Estate, where we found a very nice house and BUGS! Here are the second set of pictures from our trip:

7 weeks & nothing planned – Day 31: Keddleston House, Little Moreton Hall, & ta drive through the Peak District

After a brief break for a little writing, I picked up my camera again and travelled up to Manchester with my Dad.  Day 1 was an early start, but well worth it, visiting another stunning house built ad designed by a favourite architect of mine, Robert Adam.  It’s a beautiful place and even the Old Man was suitably impressed with its grandeur!

Following a picturesque drive through the Peak District (and passed the Devil’s A**e), we arrived at the second destination of the day: Little Moreton Hall.  A peculiar litle Tudor house, all built on timber frames and now warped quite incredibly! All in all, a very succesful day of driving and walking, with some nice pictures too!

7 weeks & nothing planned – Day 19: Polesden Lacey, Osterley House, and more bugs!!

This time accompanied by the lovely Mrs. B, we ventured south and saw two beautiful National Trust properties.  Apart from a brief traffic jam based shouting match (damn you M25!), it was a wonderful day and I have the most patient wife a budding photo person could ask for (FYI – she’s literally reading this over my shoulder right now…)

7 weeks & nothing planned – Day 10, Part II: Wimpole Estate Gardens (& bugs!)

While wndering the lovely Walled Garden, I was stuck by the lovely bees flitting around and quite happily moving around with people waling through, so I decided to try to get a couple on camera. Unfortunately, the weather (or wind, to be precise) was slightly against me, but here are some of the images I was able to get.

7 weeks & nothing planned – Day 10, Part I: Wimpole Estate House

After a couple of days at home I decided to venture out to another National Trust site and this time it was the Wimpole Estate, in Cambridgeshire. It was an interesting place, but the gardens were whhere I became a little obsessed with flowers and bug hunting.  More of that to follow though, below are some of the pictures from around and inside the house.

7 weeks & nothing planned – Day 6: Regents & Ragtime

Spent an evening at Regents Open Air Theatre yesterday, seeing the musical ‘Ragtime’.  It was an interesting production and prior to the show I took a walk around the park with Mrs. B, as well as her Sister (Keri) & boyfriend (Giancarlo).  It was a lovely walk and the show was certainly interesting, if not the all-singing, all-dancing, and fun-loving 1920s musical we were quite expecting (to be honest, it was a little depressing actually).

Anyway, here a handful of pics from the walk.

7 week & nothing planned – Day 4, Part II: Walking around and around Waddesdon Manor

On to the main visit for yesterday, the stunning Waddesdon Manor! It really is beautiful and a fascinating collection of art and other pieces in the house (no photography allowed sadly).

Anyway, I wandered around and around the house once with the 18-70mm and then with the 70-300mm. As well as the house being stunning, I really enjoyed some of the sculptures and modern art dotted around the grounds.  Anyway…enjoy:
